ADOPT!

Welcome to our adoption page. Here you will find links to all of the animals available for adoption through the Mae Bachur Animal Shelter. We at the shelter try very hard to match each one of our animals with a suitable home. Our staff and volunteers work with all of our animals to make sure that they are happy and comfortable during their stay. We try to teach all of our dogs basic manners, including housebreaking and basic training, and try to socialize all of our animals. Please keep in mind that adopting an animal is a lifetime commitment.

 Shelter Animals Coming-Up for Adoption

Please note that we do not put animals on hold for anyone. Adoptions are typically on a first-come basis. If the animal that you are interested is not available until a later date, applications for that animal will not be considered until the date of availability. We require 2 personal references with each application. There is a mandatory 24h waiting period, and the adoption application process typically takes 2-3 days.

Please refer to our cost to adopt page for more information on fees.

Dog Training Information

Honey

Before adopting an animal into your family, please take some time to get to know the unique personality of your choice before making this commitment. Listen to the valuable information that the shelter staff are able to share with you. These simple steps could possibly save another animal from having to suffer for our mistakes.

Honey was a boisterous, loving little girl led into a world of hurt and intolerance. Honey spent several months of her life at the shelter, happy carefree, relentlessly waiting her chance at a normal life. She was eventually adopted by a family and then returned to the shelter within three weeks after having allegedly nipped one of them.

Honey, sadly was euthanized on September 18, 2001.

Candle for Honey
"Your candle burned out long before your legend ever will"

Honey will remain in all of our hearts as an example of what happens when things go terribly wrong.
